I am a Grand Princess, my Heart is Pure Gold,
I only think Good Thoughts, I’m Precious, you know.
It’s my Royal Decree that I must get My Way,
And you should hand over your treasures, I Say.

Ah, the World is my Oyster, yes, Everything’s Mine.
I don’t want to hear of your hard work and time,
’cause it just doesn’t matter, I Own All Things by Right,
In fact I am Claiming Whatever’s in Sight.

No matter to Me if it’s your stuff by law,
‘Cuz it’s Mine if I say so, and I Want It All.
See That over there, and This over here?
Just give it to Me now, I Own It, m’dear.

Since I am The Princess, I’m Divine and Remote
And you are too puny to be worthy of note,
So, please do stop saying you think it’s unfair,
It Upsets Me, you know, and I mostly Don’t Care.

Oh, God made Me Special, and made you all poor,
He mustn’t be questioned, you deserve it, I’m Sure.
I am the Divine One, so what can I say?
Y’all should feel honored to Bow and Obey!

Oh, don’t get all stubborn, don’t argue and fret.
You simply don’t matter, and My Mind is set.
What isn’t Mine now will be All Mine quite soon
(And if you’ve made new stuff, then that’s All Mine, too!)

It works OK for five-year-olds…

I wrote and posted this little rhyme (I would not presume to call it REAL poetry) back in March or April of 2005.  It was inspired by someone that my business partner and I had had the misfortune of doing business with. I deleted the poem shortly after it was posted for fear that they might read it and recognize themselves in it and become more difficult to deal with (as if that could be possible). I was giving them too much credit. Their ability for honest insight has not been apparent, thus far. No reason to believe they might suddenly acquire it.

At the time, they had upset me with their sly and greedy agendas, and unethical, unprofessional behavior. But, now that a little time has passed, I’m able to see the humor in my “poetic” response, so I thought I’d post it again.

The truth is that I remember being such a “Princess” when I was five. I think all five-year-olds believe the world and everything in it belongs to them. Fortunately most of us outgrow that belief. How sad for those who never do.

Anyway, here’s the poem. I know who this poem was written for, but I have an idea that everyone knows at least one person that fits the description, so it’s likely a universal sentiment.

With a bit of creativity, you can give your daughter the party of her dreams and keep it green and organic. Follow these steps for a spectacular princess event.

Picking the Location: Choose a location that looks elegant or can easily be transformed into an elegant spot. A garden or transforming a room in your house to give a garden feel is the perfect setting. If you have a local park with a covered area would be another great choice.

Princess Party Invitations: You can make them yourself on a cloth treasure bag that they can bring to the party for the treasure hunt.
